Submissions
Response times
How long we take to review a submission, what each stage means, and when and how to follow up.
This page explains how long we take to respond to submissions, and when and how to follow up if you haven't heard from us.
How long a review takes
We aim to reply to every submission within 8 to 12 weeks of the date you submit it.
| Stage | What it means | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| Received | Your submission is in our system and you've had an acknowledgement. | Immediately |
| Reviewing | An editor is reading it. If we like the opening, we read the full manuscript. | 4 to 10 weeks |
| Decision | We email you with our answer. | By week 12 |
If we'd like to publish your book, we'll contact you by phone or email to talk about it before sending a written offer.
Why it takes this long
Every submission is read by a person, not screened by software. Our editors read submissions alongside editing the books we're already publishing. A full manuscript can take several days to read properly.
When to follow up
- Before 12 weeks: please don't chase us. It won't speed things up.
- After 12 weeks: if you haven't heard from us, email submissions@kshiradprakashan.com with the subject line "Follow-up: [book title], [your name]" and the date you submitted. We'll reply within 5 working days.
- If you get an offer from another publisher: tell us straight away, even before 12 weeks. We'll try to give you an answer quickly.
- If you want to withdraw your submission: email us and we'll remove it.
If we say no
We're a small publisher and can only take on a few books a year, so we turn down many good manuscripts. Because of the number of submissions, we usually can't give detailed feedback.
You're welcome to submit a different manuscript in future. Please don't resubmit the same book unless we've invited you to, or it has been substantially rewritten (and say so in your cover note).
